Ego Integrity of the Elderly - Focusing on Mediator of Self-actualization -

Abstract
This research purports to examine ego integrity of the elderly and to identify how self-actualization mediates recognition of aging, family relations, social participation. To validate the suggested model, senior living in Seoul, Kyonggi over 65 years of age were selected purposively to survey for this study. The research findings showed that the ego integrity of the elderly scored 3.44 out of 5 point scale. Family relations and self-actualization had a direct influence on ego integrity, and at the same time, self-actualization was proven to be an important mediator between recognition of aging, family relations, social participation and ego integrity. As a result, this research suggested possible ways for practical intervention to promote self-actualization and ego integrity for the elderly.
